A gold colored metal device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a falcon perched on a rest and encircled with a lure, all above a scroll bearing the motto "PARATI RESPONDERE."
The aerial aspects of the 16th Aviation Battalion are symbolized by the falcon. The lure (an object used to recall hawks) and the hawk's rest simulate the numeral "16," the organization's numerical designation. The motto translates to "Ready to Respond."
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 30 December 1966.
